Sr. Maintenance Technician - Weekend Shift
General Summary
The Sr. Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing, independently or with minimal guidance, audits, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of automated material handling system components within a 700,000 sq. ft. distribution center. S/he represents and follows outlined company guidelines for general work practices, and performs assigned duties in accordance with proper safe work practices. The Sr. Maintenance Technician takes initiative to coordinate maintenance activities with Operations Managers to ensure the safe and satisfactory completion of all tasks. The Sr. Maintenance Technician serves as a lead troubleshooter and provides onsite technical skills; therefore, the Sr. Technician must have a thorough understanding of the product flow and operational goals to effectively support the DC Operations.
Essential Duties and Resonsibilities
• Assists other Technicians and/or Mechanics in the repair and maintenance of equipment
• Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics) and diagnostic tools (e.g. multi-meter, laptop).
• Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment (e.g., pneumatic systems, material handling equipment, hydraulic equipment, dock equipment, electronic and electrical equipment, etc.) according to safety and quality procedures.
• Troubleshoots and repairs complex electrical/electronic problems with equipment, networks, PC logic controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and external Input/Output (I/O) devices where the repair is not immediately visible or obvious.
• Provides resolutions to mechanical, technical/controls issues; documents all information relating to customer support issues in CMMS and Dashboard database; utilizes resources in other departments (when necessary) to expedite the resolution of conveyor related issues.
• Troubleshoots and repairs key components for the DC, including but not limited to automated putwall (pick-to-light systems), HighJump (WMS), PandA (Print and Apply) components, and Intelligrated conveyor systems.
• Participates in cleaning the conveyor systems and maintenance area as appropriate
• Completes work orders, records, logs, and other written or computer-based documents according to established procedures.
• Follows up by providing feedback and timely documentation with Facilities Manager, Supervisor/Lead, and other Operations Managers to ensure issues have been resolved.
• Provides analysis and makes recommendations to the Facilities Manager and Management Team to enhance program success.
• Analyzes and troubleshoots reoccurring issues and creates an ROI to support the change
• Assist with developing plans on how to accomplish department goals
• Adheres to all department and company standards, operating procedures, and safety requirements while contributing to improvement.
• Maintains inventory of company supplied tools.
• Acts as Lead Maintenance Technician in the Lead's absence, and serves as Technical Trainer to department associates as needed
• Performs general facility maintenance such as light bulb replacement, office furniture relocation, light plumbing, light electrical repairs, etc.
• Other duties as instructed by leadership which the associate is trained and skilled to perform

• Frequent bending, lifting, walking, pushing/pulling, crawling, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and standing for long periods of time and sometimes working in extreme temperatures
• Move objects using proper lifting and operating procedures
• Safely utilize manually operated equipment (i.e. pallet jack, rolling conveyor, pick cart, totes, or hand truck) to transport cartons or other items by means of pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying
• Excellent hand and eye coordination skills
• Ability to read, recognize, write, and follow applicable numbers and directives (verbal and written) in English, including safety rules, operating instructions, racking locations, and procedural documents
• Command of basic math skills to ensure inventory (count, add, subtract, identify, etc. numbers 0-1,000) and measurement conversion accuracy (mm to in)
• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to support workload and operations requirements, including holidays and weekends as dictated by the operations
• Successfully perform processes associated with the core duties and responsibilities of the position
Experience:
- 3-5 years of related experience in mechanical troubleshooting, technical troubleshooting, maintenance and/or installation is required
- Strong electrical background and knowledge of low voltage controls and PLC
- Required prior experience and/or working knowledge of:
- Conveyor and/or sortation
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting
- Solid electrical troubleshooting
- Solid controls troubleshooting
- Preventative/predictive maintenance
- Modification and upgrade support
- Installation
- Certified to operate material handling equipment (e.g. forklift), boom and scissor lifts, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Preferred prior experience and/or working knowledge of:
Allen Bradley products
Network troubleshooting
• Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) skills
• Experience working with and managing outside vendors, customers, and business partners
• Prior working knowledge of current building vendors, software, platforms, and systems strongly desired
• Previous industry based experience
Education:
- High School Degree or and approved GED required
- College degree preferred but not required.
