ALL USAGES OF “YOU”, “YOURS”, “CONSUMER”, ETC. ARE REFERENCES TO SUCH CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS. NOTE THAT, IN MOST CASES, WE WILL SUPPLEMENT THE INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE WITH OTHER PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM THIRD PARTIES WE SELECT, SUCH AS BACKGROUND CHECK INFORMATION PROVIDERS, FROM THIRD PARTIES THAT YOU INSTRUCT OR AUTHORIZE TO SEND INFORMATION TO US, AND FROM PUBLICLY AVAILABLE INFORMATION.
IF YOU ARE A PROSPECTIVE ASSOCIATE, THE CATEGORIES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION LISTED BELOW THAT WE RECEIVE WILL BE USED TO ASSESS YOUR SUITABILITY AS A DBI ASSOCIATE, TO EVALUATE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS FOR AVAILABLE OR ANTICIPATED EMPLOYMENT POSITIONS AT DBI, AND FOR THE PURPOSES OF COMPLYING WITH APPLICABLE LAWS. UNLESS YOU DIRECT OTHERWISE IN WRITING, WE MAY (BUT ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO) RETAIN THE PERSONAL INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE FOR UP TO TWO YEARS AND WE MAY USE THAT INFORMATION TO CONSIDER YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR ANY AVAILABLE OR ANTICIPATED EMPLOYMENT POSITIONS AT DBI DURING THAT TIME. IF YOU ARE HIRED AS AN ASSOCIATE OF DBI, THAT INFORMATION WILL BE KEPT IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR STANDARD RETENTION POLICIES.
IF YOU ARE A PROSPECTIVE INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR, THE CATEGORIES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION LISTED BELOW THAT WE RECEIVE WILL BE USED TO ASSESS YOUR SUITABILITY FOR AVAILABLE OR ANTICIPATED ENGAGEMENTS TO PERFORM WORK FOR DBI AS AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR, AND FOR THE PURPOSES OF COMPLYING WITH APPLICABLE LAWS. UNLESS YOU DIRECT OTHERWISE IN WRITING, WE MAY (BUT ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO) RETAIN THE PERSONAL INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE FOR UP TO TWO YEARS AND WE MAY USE THAT INFORMATION TO CONSIDER YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR ANY AVAILABLE OR ANTICIPATED ENGAGEMENTS TO PERFORM WORK FOR DBI AS AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR DURING THAT TIME. IF YOU ARE RETAINED AS AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR, THAT INFORMATION WILL BE KEPT IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR STANDARD RETENTION POLICIES.
THE CATEGORIES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION WE MAY COLLECT AND PROCESS (BUT ONLY TO THE EXTENT AND IN A MANNER THAT IS CONSISTENT WITH APPLICABLE LAW) ARE AS FOLLOWS:

- PROFESSIONAL OR EMPLOYMENT-RELATED INFORMATION. DBI COLLECTS MULTIPLE CATEGORIES OF INFORMATION RELATED TO YOUR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE, EMPLOYMENT HISTORY, OR APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT OR AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR RELATIONSHIP WITH US SUCH AS:
- JOB PREFERENCE INFORMATION. DBI WILL RECEIVE THE INFORMATION YOU SUBMIT ABOUT YOUR JOB PREFERENCES (SUCH AS THE POSTING AND DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB TO WHICH YOU APPLY, YOUR COMPENSATION EXPECTATIONS, AND YOUR PREFERRED START DATE).
- PRIOR EMPLOYMENT AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE INFORMATION. DBI COLLECTS INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR PRIOR EMPLOYMENT AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES (SUCH AS INFORMATION IN YOUR COVER LETTER AND RESUME/CV AND A LIST OF SKILLS).
- COMMENTS. DBI RECEIVES ANY COMMENTS AND MESSAGES YOU SUBMIT ALONG WITH YOUR JOB APPLICATIONS.
- BACKGROUND CHECK AND PUBLIC RECORDS INFORMATION. WITH YOUR PERMISSION, DBI MAY RECEIVE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN BACKGROUND CHECK REPORTS AND IN PUBLIC GOVERNMENT RECORDS (SUCH AS WORK HISTORY, DRIVING RECORDS, CRIMINAL RECORDS, AND COURT RECORDS).
- HEALTH INFORMATION. DBI MAY RECEIVE HEALTH-RELATED INFORMATION FROM YOU THAT IS RELEVANT TO YOUR APPLICATION, SUCH AS WHEN YOU PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR ABILITY TO PERFORM CERTAIN JOB FUNCTIONS, THE NEED FOR ACCOMMODATIONS, OR A DISABILITY.
- EDUCATION INFORMATION. DBI MAY COLLECT INFORMATION ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR EDUCATION (SUCH AS CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSE, ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS, AND CONFIRMATIONS OF ATTENDANCE AT AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION).

- PERSONAL INFORMATION DESCRIBED IN SUBDIVISION (E) OF CAL. CIV. CODE § 1798.80. DBI MAY COLLECT AND PROCESS PERSONAL INFORMATION DESCRIBED IN CAL. CIV. CODE § 1798.80 TO THE SAME EXTENT AND FOR THE SAME REASONS THAT IT COLLECTS AND PROCESSES THE CORRESPONDING TYPE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION IN THE ABOVE LIST. FOR EXAMPLE, DBI COLLECTS AND PROCESSES SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS, A TYPE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION IN CAL. CIV. CODE § 1798.80, AS A PERSONAL IDENTIFIER.

WE USE THIS INFORMATION TO PROVIDE AND IMPROVE OUR WEBSITE AND JOB APPLICATION PROCESSES, FOR ANTI-FRAUD PURPOSES, AND TO CREATE AGGREGATE INTERNAL REPORTS ON WEBSITE USAGE AND ACTIVITY, SUCH AS VIEWS OF CERTAIN JOB POSTINGS. DBI COLLECTS AND PROCESSES EACH TYPE OF SENSITIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR THE SAME PURPOSES AS EXPLAINED ABOVE FOR THE CORRESPONDING TYPE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION.
WE RETAIN EACH CATEGORY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR THE LENGTH OF TIME NEEDED TO CARRY OUT THE PURPOSES OUTLINED IN THIS NOTICE AND TO ADHERE TO OUR RECORDKEEPING POLICIES, WHICH ARE INFORMED BY APPLICABLE LAWS AND INDUSTRY STANDARDS.
