Maintenance Manager

  General Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing the overall maintenance and safety functions

related to the distribution center, including conveyor systems, sorters, material handling equipment,

grounds upkeep, safety, and security.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as primary point of contact for all Maintenance Management related activities, ensuring satisfaction in

the delivery of services, the ability to anticipate business needs, and recommend proactive continuous

improvement plans

  • Coordinate with Operations Leadership to plan and schedule the preventative maintenance (PM)

assignments and repairs to minimize operational downtime.

  • Responsible for the training and performance of internal Maintenance Technicians, and leads the

oversight of external vendors and suppliers utilized for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, etc.

  • Support the business by developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and

development guides to support areas of responsibility.

  • Operate as NJDC primary point-of-contact for local and state fire, police, and building inspectors, and

other municipal agencies as they pertain to maintenance, safety, and security issues.

  • Oversee inventory of property and equipment and maintain on-going inventory of condition, use,

location and storage of such assets.

  • Establish and maintain acceptable cleanliness and organizational standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee all NJDC associate training activities for safety, security, safety and code


  • Responsible for Security Officers and Security systems in NJDC, including liaison with outside security

service providers and responding to alarms and emergencies.

  • Responsible for vendor and project management for access control, CCTV and related security

equipment, including review of all invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual


  • Proactively seeks opportunities to promote an environment which encourages the development and

implementation of “security best practices.”

  • Document issues, incidents, or accomplishments of direct reports; providing constructive and/or

positive input for performance reviews, coaching sessions, and one-on-one meetings.



Required Skills and Competencies:

Excellent (written and oral) communication skills w/basic knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft

Office software.

  • Experience and operational knowledge with Allen Bradley and Siemens programmers and PLC


  • Ability to read prints, schematics, electrical diagrams and make decisions based on these documents.
  • A broad working knowledge of installation and repair of facility and warehouse industrial equipment,

parts, structure and fixtures.

  • Strong business, organizational and management skills with an emphasis on relationship


  • Extensive knowledge in the use of CMMS systems to manage work scheduling.
  • Resolve mechanical and electrical maintenance issues and perform root cause analysis for

component part failures.


Experience/ Education:

8-12 years’ experience in Maintenance Management

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of material handling equipment and MHE controls and PLCs
