Tax Analyst (Hybrid)
General Summary: The Tax Analyst interacts and collaborates with business partners in various departments, while working on key initiatives directly with Sr. Manager, Income Tax. This job contributes to DBI’s success by pulling data to prepare basic level returns, assisting with tax audits, estimated payments, and special projects in tax.
Reports to: Sr. Manager, Income Tax
Currently seeking a candidate within the Columbus area. The role is in a hybrid work environment and must be available to come in office as needed.
Core Accountabilities:
- Prepares federal, state and local income tax returns
- Assists with income tax estimated payments
- Responsible for maintenance of the database for the purpose of reconciling and verifying data.
- Gathers, summarizes and analyzes tax accrual data.
- Analyzes and reconciles related general ledger accounts.
- Prepares journal entries in a timely manner to support reconciliations.
- Develops and maintains thorough knowledge of related systems utilized in the compliance, control and audit process.
- Responsible for flow of information to external audit requests from taxing authorities and responding to tax notices received from taxing jurisdictions, researching and resolving as necessary.
- Prepares ad-hoc analysis and reports.
- Assists with preparation of sales and use tax returns.
- Gathers data for sales and use tax audits for most favorable settlement for DSW.
- Assists with information requests for state and local income tax audits
- Communicates with internal partners to gather information for returns and special projects
- Supports implementation of tax related projects
- Challenge status quo and make recommendations for process improvements

Education/Experience Required:
- BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, or related area
- Tax return preparation experience, either in a company or in public accounting
- 1-3 years corporate tax experience
- Knowledge of tax return preparation software (Onesource Income Tax and Vertex a plus)
- Analytical skills
