General Summary

The Senior Analyst, Consumer Insights, is responsible for providing impactful consumer insights to bring the footwear consumer to life across DSW and all of Designer Brands (DBI). This position will be responsible for leading actionable consumer insights programs utilizing qualitative & quantitative research, syndicated data, and first-party customer data from DSW’s award-winning DSW VIP program. The Senior Analyst will have the opportunity to engage with, and influence, senior leadership and will be highly collaborative with cross functional partners across Customer Analytics, Marketing, Digital, Merchandising, and Operations.

 

Reports to:  Director, Consumer Insights

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides proactive and actionable consumer insights that influence the strategic planning for DSW and Designer Brands in our product design, store & on-line experiences, and marketing communications
  • Leads the design and execution of multiple qualitative and quantitative consumer insights projects with a focus on bringing actionable consumer insights to life for DBI; includes projects led internally as well as collaborating with existing and new insights partners
  • Continually improves DBI’s understanding of our current and potential customers and leads consumer insights programs across our Customer and Brand pillars to strengthen our strategies and innovation plans
  • Execute consumer insights projects with excellence and independently lead communicating the results in an effective manner with clear action areas for the business.
  • Assists in the growth of DBI’s Customer Experience (CX) program by serving as a subject matter expert on DBI’s CX capabilities
  • Strengthens DBI consumer insights capabilities by continually assessing existing and emerging insights techniques and vendor partners
  • Continually build connections with Market Insights, Customer Analytics, and Trend to create a holistic view of the footwear consumer across DBI

 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to successfully lead consumer insights projects and to communicate actionable insights
  • Proven capability of leading both qualitative and quantitative research including ability to self-moderate qualitative research (1-1s, small groups, virtual interviews, etc.)
  • Insatiable curiosity when it comes to consumer behavior and understanding the ‘why’
  • Ability to translate insights into effective written and verbal storytelling messages across the organization and the ability to reach multiple, and diverse, internal audiences
  • Ability to use quantitative analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, JMP, Q, MarketSight); experience with Tableau desirable as well
  • Ability to use self-serve quantitative survey programming (e.g., AYTM, Qualtrics)
  • Desired, but not required, experience with Customer Experience (CX) platforms (e.g., Medallia, SMG, Qualtrics)
  • Strong organizational skills & ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at once in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word

 

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in consumer insights in either a brand or supplier-side organization

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in retail, or with retail clients, desired, but not required
  • Experience in leading multiple brand equity studies and communicating impactful insights
  • Experience with customer experience (CX) platforms and capabilities

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Market Research, or related field
