GENERAL SUMMARY:

Project Managers assist with managing the full software development life cycle (SDLC) of multiple highly complex enterprise or IT projects in coordination with cross-functional team members. Ensure projects are completed according to SDLC and project plans. Perform in a leadership and champion role of project management policy and process within the enterprise.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·         In collaboration with management, creates and maintains team capacity plans to ensure appropriate resourcing and project budget allocations

·         In collaboration with management and finance, coordinates budget review process for project budgeting, profit and loss, including capital and operating expenses

·         In collaboration with cross-functional project teams, defines scope, drives and manages scope and objectives for highly complex technical projects that impact multiple business functions

·         Manages the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and documentation of one or more highly complex projects in coordination with cross-functional team members.

·         Aligns with cross-functional management to aid in the planning of the project process

·         Coordinates and facilitates cross-functional meetings and engages other groups as needed for project planning and execution.

·         Leads various functional areas in developing, monitoring and executing tactical project plans and schedules

·         Prepares business case need and cost analysis proposals, including time and cost estimates and provides recommendations

·         Establishes priorities and assigns tasks or deliverables as needed

·         Follows up to ensure project deadlines are on target and within budget.  Revises schedule accordingly in order to meet organization’s needs

·         Leads in planning and conceptualizing ideas for project implementation

·         Presents plans and project status updates to various groups

·         Manages project risks and issues and tracks action items to ensure projects are on track

·         Manages relationships with internal and external partners and/or vendors

·         Engages project team in problem resolution of complex matters and escalates issues to appropriate individuals when unable to resolve

·         Proactively manages project changes (e.g., scope, schedule, cost) and leads efforts to assess project impacts

·         Ensures that project deliverables and goals are being met including documentation that is required for implementation and transition to the production environment and subsequent maintenance phase

·         Conducts post project analysis ad lessons learned

·         Communicates and collaborates with project managers to ensure project alignment with strategic programs and portfolios

·         Provides leadership on best practices and assists in the implementation of those best practices on assigned projects.  Serves as an agent for improved process changes, driving improvements on assigned project

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

·         Four years progressively responsible project management experience that demonstrates:

o    Thorough knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools as well as software development tools and methodologies including but not limited to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and Agile

o    Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of software development/package implementation life cycle process

o    Proven ability to understand requirements, understand development estimates and manage project plans

o    Ability to be organized, meet established schedules and deadlines

o    Excellent, proven relationship management skills with the ability to interface with all personnel

o    Consultative skills with the ability to engage on a matrix-basis and provide thought leadership and influence.

o    Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and communication skills as well as excellent listening skills

o    Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data

o    Ability to facilitate through conflict and manage conflict appropriately

o    Ability to develop and execute detailed tactical plans on multiple projects

o    Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and assignments simultaneously

o    Ability to work effectively as a member of a team of peers

o    Needs to be action-oriented and have a high tolerance for ambiguity

o    Ability to meet established schedules and deadlines

o    Ability to coordinate, lead and manage groups of people with different objectives from multiple functional areas and ability to form and manage an effective project team

o    Ability to effectively manage business relationships

o    Expert knowledge and experience with MS Project including critical path scheduling, resource loading and leveling, time reporting, earned value analysis, etc.

 

DESIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

·         PMP Certification; thorough knowledge and experience implementing PMBOK process elements

·         Working knowledge of one or more industry best practices and standards (e.g., CMM, ITIL (preferred), COBIT, ISO, etc.)

·         Retail industry experience

·         Technical knowledge and/or experience with one or more of the following technical platforms:  Informatica PowerCenter and B2B, Sterling Integrator/Gentran Integration Suite, Retail Store Systems (POS), ATG, Yantra, JDA
