The Senior Store Planning & Allocation Manager is accountable to develop and mentor the Store Planning & Allocation team for their departmental scope.  Their primary objective is to drive sales and profitability for their business.  The Store Planning team does this by accurately forecasting sales and inventory at a store level, and then the Allocation team deploys inventory to achieve business objectives.  This role requires coordination and alignment with various cross-functional partners to ensure the most current and accurate trends are leveraged to create store plans, which also account for store capacity.  These plans then connect directly to the actions of Allocation. 

Pre-season, the Store Planning team works closely with Merchandising and Merchandise Planning to influence by-store sales and inventory forecasts at a subclass level.  Once in-season, the team reviews weekly performance to assess risks and opportunities while collaborating with Allocation and Field partners to read and react.  For Allocation associates, that means making inventory deployment decisions based on receipt timing, Open-to-Ship metrics, sales trends, assortment intent, and more.  This Senior Manager also plays a role in opening new stores with the optimal assortment and inventory levels to meet sales and inventory goals.  Finally, this role also oversees the total Store Plan across all departments. 

Note: This position may require limited travel.

 

Sales/Merchandise Volume Responsibility: Responsible for more than $2B in retail sales

 

Reports to: VP – Store Planning, Allocation & Advanced Analytics

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Store Planning & Allocation team to plan sales and inventory across multiple seasons simultaneously, for all stores within departmental scope.  Manage the deployment of inventory as it is received.
  • Build strong partnerships with Store Operations, Field Leaders, Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, Real Estate, Supply Chain and others to drive business strategy.
  • Communicate with Regional Directors and Market Leaders on inventory strategy, inclusive of category distortions, receipt timing, capacity projections and flow planning.  Leverage field insights when building store plans, identifying where inventory opportunities exist and developing action plans.
  • Engage with the Merchandise Planning team to align store plans and merchandise plans.  Manage capacity projections tools to create cross-functional visibility, proactively adjusting for risk and opportunity. 
  • Develop deep understanding of net vs. demand sales, and the impact of digital fulfillment on store inventories.
  • Lead the Store Planning & Allocation team to be more digitally-conscious in strategy development and execution.
  • Manage in-store inventory by leading the Allocation team to deliver to store plans and capacity expectations.
  • Develop and manage Instock reporting highlighting key items, key stores, core sizes, etc.  Deliver on Instock targets for departmental scope, and develop action plans when results are below goal.
  • Closely monitor inventory flow and ownership, aiming to leverage investments to maximize sales while minimizing markdown risk.
  • Develop reporting to analyze performance with specific focus on top stores, store tiers, and other key initiatives.
  • Direct the development of capacity, inventory plans, and assortment for new stores opening tailored to the uniqueness of each store, ensure new stores open with the appropriate merchandise mix and inventory levels to support projected sales and margin.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

  • Team building/influencing skills – proven experience
  • Merchandise Planning and Allocation experience preferred
  • Store Planning experience a plus
  • Analytical experience required
  • 7+ years in home office retail Planning and Allocation

 

Education:

  • B.A, or B.S. degree in related field is preferred
