General Summary

The Senior Digital Product Photographer has a keen eye for detail and excellent time management skills. Primary responsibility is to ensure the photography team produces images within set standards for quality and time. They make certain the team workload is processed quickly and with skill. They are keenly aware of the total studio workflow and can adjust their own workload accordingly. Works with the Supervisor and Manager to prioritize and flex staffing when needed. Must be a self-motivator, and a team player with the desire to succeed.

Reports to:  Supervisor, Photo Studio

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Preps, styles and photographs products for dsw.com in a fully digital in-house studio.

• Possesses the knowledge and capability to flex their photography skills to style/shoot various categories, as business needs dictates.

• Provide creative & technical suggestions to elevate the quality of the image being captured.

• Innovate – every day! Must always be looking for ways to photograph faster, better, and smarter.

• Lead and develop new hire training, including Style Guide updates.

• Will perform image quality checks and site audits on a daily basis to ensure standards are met.

• Responsible for basic set checks and equipment maintenance.

• Maintains sample organization and can prioritize based on on-going initiatives.

• Partner closely with Retouching team to coordinate best practices with end goals in mind, and seamlessly deliver files from photography into retouching.

• Perform competitive patterning exercises to ensure best-in-class photography on dsw.com

• Study footwear industry trends, develop best practices, and ensure product styling is in line with the merchant team and their direction.

• Create basic reporting functions and interpret data. Provide direction to the photography team based on set data.

• Show both technical and creative skills when photographing on-location, supporting marketing photography, and providing new photography direction.

 

Required Skills:

• Extremely organized, excellent communication skills – listening, speaking and writing skills.

• Keen eye for color and lighting.

• Prior knowledge of digital photography including; Photoshop CC, Canon equipment, Mac, and Profoto equipment (preferred).

• Comfortable working with a Digital Asset Management system (Adobe AEM)

• Must be process oriented, and maintain the ability to prioritize effectively.

• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, in a fast-paced and growing team environment.

• Knowledge of current design trends and fashions.

• Proficient with Mac, Capture One, Photoshop. Basic retouching and digital archiving a plus.

 

Experience:

• 2+ years in a related photography, or photo stylist position. Retail experience a plus.

 

Education:

• Bachelors degree: Photography, Design, Merchandising or related field
