The Regional Loss Prevention Investigator (Remote) maximizes shrink reduction efforts through the identification and resolution of issues or events related to organized retail crime, e-commerce, professional shoplifting, and internal theft. Assist the Regional Loss Prevention Manager(s) (RLPMs) and Home Office LP team in developing proactive measures that will prevent large-scale theft from occurring in assigned Region(s). This position reports to the Regional Loss Prevention Manager (Mid-West) and has no direct reports.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiates, organized retail crime, professional shoplifting, e-commerce, and internal theft investigations.
  • Performs forensic, predictive, and live loss analysis using LP tools including exception reporting systems (Profitect), networked store CCTV and interfacing with company systems, such as financial systems, point-of-sale, and inventory management.
  • Conducts associate theft interview via phone and in person as well as interviews with professional shoplifters and ORC groups.
  • Authors comprehensive case files and written reports.
  • Monitors customer and associate activities in the store for potential theft of Company assets.  Takes appropriate action to prevent theft through communication with store management; ensures apprehensions of individuals engaged in theft activities through partnership with local law enforcement, in approved locations.
  • Assists in internal and external theft investigations in compliance with Company Ethical Standards and Apprehension Guidelines.
  • Develops and manages active case files using available resources (LPMS), including investigative websites, software, and law enforcement agencies according to company standards.
  • Assist RLPMs with the development of internal investigations.
  • Under  the  direction  of  the  Manager  of  Investigations,  supports  and/or  conducts  supply  chain  and  other  high-level investigations.
  • Analyze shrink reports and conduct follow-up investigations
  • As needed partner with RLPMs to develop and administer proactive training and conference calls which target and prevents shrink in stores.
  • Partners with Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement agencies to prosecute all external fraud activities within assigned areas. Works with the judicial system to insure prosecution and maximize restitution opportunities.
  • Assistance in coordinating LP Agent schedules based on shortage trends.
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of surveillance and apprehension techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions in stressful situations.
  • Wicklander Interview and Interrogation Certified/Trained
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong understanding of Exception Based Reporting systems such as Profitect, and case management tools such as LPMS.
  • Experience with IP and analog camera systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to plan, organize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
  • May work second shift hours as well as weekends as business dictates.
  • Flexibility in regional travel. Potential of travel up to 30% of time.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Moving, sitting and standing. Must have the ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing or sitting at a computer.
  • Lifting, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Physical activities include visiting stores, law enforcement offices, courtrooms and other retailers on a frequent basis.
  • Finger dexterity (ability to type on a computer keyboard, answer and receive phone calls, adjust or install camera systems and inspect packages.)

 

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

  • 2 - 5  years’ experience in retail loss prevention / investigations and shrink reduction strategies

 

Education:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LPQ/LPC, and or CFI preferred
  • Multi-store investigation experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
