As the Manager - Iteration Management & Support, you will be directly responsible for leading individuals that are executing within an Iterative process where their roles pertain to the success and continuance of said process. The primary goal of this team is to achieve optimal performance through procedural guidance and execution along with support that brings direct value to the development teams and allows them to complete their jobs. While methodologies lean towards Agile and Scrum, this individual should be open to alternatives as teams grow and the best solution is always the approach that meets the needs at any given time. Moreover, this manager will have to be comfortable in a flat operational environment wherein direct reports are given autonomy and clear milestones to deliver against vision and direction with minimal guidance.

 

Reports to: Director - Digital Commerce Application Development

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner and share team objectives among peers allowing for healthy collaboration and cross functional alignment where dependencies and application releases must find common timing and execution.
  • Manage people and tooling against desired processes ensuring that teams have the right resources to achieve goals in a sustainable and repeatable fashion
  • Execute with a result driven mindset through creating milestones and breaking down effort into achievable and actionable components that creates value and achieves team / company goals
  • Create and maintain processes to support a fast-paced iterative environment with objective to achieve optimal procedural execution through
    • Collaboratively create, adjust, and maintain iterative processes within individual’s solution center and share adjacent solution centers as needed or requested
    • Collaboratively create, adjust, and maintain business analyst processes within an iterative process to achieve the correct balance between execution, artifacts, and document need. Share process and learnings with adjacent solution centers as needed or requested.
    • Ensure and assign project management responsibilities to an individual(s) who will be asked to adhere to and participate in the company’s PM center of excellence (CoE) with a dedicated focus to this role’s current solution center. Provide learnings and feedback based upon the CoE’s expectations for any individuals that are assigned to the responsibility.
  • Provide guidance and growth to individuals distributed across multiple cross functional teams as they provide automated validation and delivery to software within web, mobile, and service layer implementations
  • At times, lead execution of initiatives that may fall out of the team’s day to day objectives but align with company goals while making use of project management skill sets
  • Plan, drive, track and report on delivery of full high-complexity individual projects, multiple projects and/or programs (tech, business, vendor, change, communications, measurement workstreams)
    • Create project management artifacts: scope, project plan, budget, risk/issue logs, status reports, etc.
    • Oversee project execution, track status, resolve and/or escalate issues, manage project team
    • Identify, analyze and manage stakeholders throughout the project and facilitate change adoption
  • Partner with project managers across teams to drive continuous improvements
  • Be an advocate for project management across the organization
  • Provide day-to-day management of contract project managers, analysts or interns
  • Apply standard DSW project delivery process

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Must possess leadership capabilities that allows the individual to create, guide, and mentor teams against company objectives
  • Demonstrates a strong expertise working within the software development lifecycle
  • Must possess ability and skill set to manage multiple scrum delivery teams
  • Must possess ability to understand and communicate relational systems architecture
  • Must possess ability to understand interdependencies and impacts of feature requests
  • Must possess ability to understand and document requirements for business processes
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of the business analyst role and how it operates within an iterative process
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of Agile documentation so to guide and lead process definition
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools:
  • PMBOK, PM Methodologies (waterfall & Agile), best practices, PMP certification
  • Proficiency with IT and technology concepts including SDLC & QA, key DSW IT systems
  • Tools: MS Project, Clarity / CA PPM, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be able to translate project goals into detailed, actionable plans (scope, schedule, cost, team)
  • Must be able to gain alignment, approval, buy-in for project plans
  • Must be able to drive project execution to plan & continually evaluate project health / status
  • Must be able to manage project risks & issues and drive response planning, execution, escalation
  • Must be able to keep stakeholders informed, aligned, engaged and drive change management activities
  • Must be able to lead & motivate project team, drive focus & tempo, manage conflict, ensure success
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects / assignments simultaneously
  • Able to negotiate between internal stakeholders & external vendors to achieve optimal business results
  • Expert-level communicator & presenter, able to “tell the story” at all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional stakeholder identification/management, influence and change leadership abilities
  • Ability to build, direct, motivate and drive project teams

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 1-2 years’ experience managing indivudal contributors and/or teams
  • 1-2 years experience leading or executing as a business or system analyst
  • 3-5 year’s experience of project coordination, management, and leadership experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Scrum Master, preferably with digital retail experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience with Agile practices, patterns and techniques (e.g. User Stories, ATDD, TDD, BDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile games, etc.)
  • Experience with Agile software (e.g. JIRA/Confluence, VersionOne, TFS)
  • Experience with co-located and offshore teams preferred

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Scrum Master certification and formal training required
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification preferred
  • Formal Change Management training & certification preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
