Manager - Investigations, Technology, & Asset Protection Systems (Open to Remote)

The Manager - Investigations, Technology, & Asset Protection Systems manages AP processes, technology, and systems related to the functions of investigations, shrink reduction, fraud exposure and profitability. Collaborates with internal partners to create and develop long term solutions on AP reporting, AP programs, and AP technology. Implements training on all AP software programs and works with members of the team to achieve assigned goals and objectives through trends activities and data management. We are open to remote candidates based in the United States for this opportunity.


Reports To: Director, Asset Protection


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the development of the AP Strategy for all investigations and AP Systems.
  • Collaborates with internal/external business partners to develop long term solutions for shrink mitigation.
  • Directs continuous improvement methods used to analyze/compile data and records in support of AP investigations
  • Guides partners through adaptation and utilization of profitability tools that impact different parts of the business, such as Segment, Inventory, Supply Chain, Merchandising etc.
  • Leverages understanding of store processes and other functional areas across the business in the development and implementation of Asset Protection programs and solutions.
  • Develops and leads execution of utilizing store data, relational database resources, and exception-based reports.
  • Directs the collection, development, and analysis of Key Performance Indicators (Company, Region, District, Store) to identify trends in the business and assist in developing pro-active solutions.
  • Drives Loss Prevention business case research and development through the analysis of data.
  • Enhances and refines user-friendly documents for analysis – in various formats (MTD, YTD, company totals, etc.)  
  • Drives the implementation of recommendations to improve asset protection internal controls and operating processes.
  • Orchestrate department special projects as required, such as assisting in creating presentations including Asset Protection functions and results.
  • Develops relationships with technology vendors to build solutions for reducing shrink and minimizing loss.
  • Develops and grows external relationships and industry memberships that focus on shrink and loss reduction for DSW.


Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Power Point, Access, SQL, EBR,
  • Proven track record of influence and impact skills
  • Has led or been part of a cross-functional task force




  • Minimum 4 years of retail asset protection, investigations, training, or operations experience.
  • Proven track record of building teams and partnerships both internally and externally.
  • Experience with Asset Protection-related exception reporting systems and processes.



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting Asset Protection investigations / Wicklander-Zulawski (WZ) certified techniques
  • Experience in AP modeling techniques (Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive, Prescriptive etc.)
  • Understanding of relational databases and database querying.
