General Summary: The User Experience Design Manager will be responsible for analysis of user needs, business process analysis and big picture experience design. The role will work directly with Leadership, Stakeholders, Product Owners, and Engineers to influence user experience design capabilities and prioritize and deliver high-value features and services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Design Responsibilities:

  • Developing and executing design strategy for eComm teams, including Mobile App
  • Support and influence product planning prioritization
  • Keep an eye on the greater picture across the experience
  • Seek out and utilize data to make informed design decisions
  • Collaborate and build relationships within Marketing, Online Merchandising, IT, Analytics and Product teams
  • Inspire other designers, product owners, and engineers to deliver the best work of their careers.
  • Craft intuitive and shippable product experiences, leveraging DSW design standards, industry best practices and customer feedback
  • Produce design deliverables utilizing the Sketch app, Invision and/or other prototyping tools:
    • Detailed site maps, user & task flows, user journeys, page flows, taxonomies, etc.
    • Wireframes, annotations, and prototypes
    • Detail visuals & mockups
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews for all necessary features
  • Evaluate competitor and industry websites to provide a meaningful analysis of findings
  • Prioritize, plan and help conduct user research, including user interviews, usability testing, task analysis and contextual inquiry.

  • Be an advocate for the customer who never loses sight of the big picture
  • Operate in an agile development environment, working closely with product owners, engineers, analytics and QA
  • Support and influence product roadmap planning and prioritization
  • Establish design acceptance criteria for features and ensure that the implementation meets design standards.
  • Collaborate closely with agile teams to work through design details during the development of code.

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Communication and presentation skills with ability to clearly present work and articulate the rationale for decisions that led to It with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Confidence and self-motivation to drive forward projects that will improve the user’s experience
  • Proficient in using Sketch, Invision and other design tools.
  • Experience creating or using modular design systems and pattern libraries
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS.

 

Qualifications

 

Experience:

  • 7+ years of user experience design for consumers and consumer brands
  • 3+ years of user experience research experience
  • Management Experience – must have had direct reports in previous role(s)

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, IT, design, creative, communications, or related field
