Summary:  The Associate Maintenance/Facilities Technician is responsible for completing routine responsibilities in the facilities/maintenance areas as well as the mail room function. This includes, but is not limited to, lighting, restroom maintenance, furniture moving etc.

Reports to: Manager, Maintenance

 

Must possess the ability to:

  • Perform Facility maintenance and Facility maintenance support, work in mail room and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Operate a fork lift and scissor lift and one person lift.

 

 Includes but not limited to:

  • Change light bulbs in facility, office areas and egress lighting and O/S
  • Change ballasts 120V, 277V, 480V
  • Paint and remodel as required
  • Load and unload supplies, parts and equipment
  • Complete work orders and other paperwork as required
  • Lift up to 75 pounds as required.
  • Change batteries in flushers, PT dispensers and soap machines etc.
  • Tighten/replace toilet seats
  • Hang pictures and dry-erase boards, cork boards, banners, etc.
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Move furniture.
  • Clean the 810 dock (power wash).
  • Replenish dispensers in restrooms as required
  • Road trips to pick up supplies and parts in company vehicle
  • Learn Plumbing fixtures and repairs (plumbing skills)
  • Exit doors/alarms, exit lights
  • Facility improvements, changes
  • Furniture demount and install
  • Emergency repairs of all types
  • Perform preventative maintenance. Learn all facility maintenance tasks.
  • Set up chairs/tables for various meetings
  • Misc. cleanup of unexpected spills
  • Too hot, too cold issues
  • Assist with mail room tasks
  • Perform other work as assigned.

 

Mail Room Responsibilities:

 

Process USPS:

Receive:          Sign for registered mail; give outbound mail to USPS carrier.

Sort:                Customer service cards. Sort mail and magazines according to name. ID department if no name.

Deliver:            Mail to departments and possibly sort to department’s mail systems.

Gather:            End of day sweep by departments to gather outbound mail.

Process:          Use mail machine to process outbound mail that needs postage (charging postage to departments). Place outbound mail in location for next day pick up.

 

Deliver Packages from UPS & Fedex

  • Learn and utilize a mail room scanner to deliver small packages to the associates located within the DC, IT, or 810 Home Office, Photo Studio, Fixtures, FC and other DSW areas.

 

Process Outbound Store Mail

  • Gather communications regarding items from DSW departments that need to go inside the bi-weekly mail-out to stores. (Typically received from other mail room associates)
  • Assemble boxes, attach labels, insert items from DSW departments into the boxes, seal boxes and prepare for pick up by Fedex
  • Assist other mail room associates. Keep the mail room orderly.  

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in related Distribution Maintenance, in building maintenance/repair.
  • Command of safety procedures (including lock-out/tag-out)
  • PC skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Forklift Driver’s License
  • High School Education
