The Lead Application Systems Analyst, Merchandise Planning Systems is responsible for leading projects, releases, and operational initiatives. Will design, code, test, and debug highly complex programs or processes. Candidate will need to be able to work at all technical levels to perform and lead applications systems analysis and programming activities.  Must be able to establish and maintain standards and procedures leading to optimized configuration management, release management, and quality assurance.  This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Merchandise Planning Systems and has no direct reports.

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as lead on projects, releases and operational initiatives that are running concurrently  
    • Establishes successful working and support relationships with cross functional teams 
    • Supports ongoing project, release and operational work from beginning to end 
    • Provides updates to manager and project manager 
    • Takes responsibility for technical approach and design of project, support and enhancement activities 
  • Facilitates, organizes and manages software releases  
    • Partners with business and IT resources to document production issues and enhancement requests 
    • Leads prioritization of work and delivery of software changes 
    • Facilitates release prioritization and status meetings 
    • Assigns work to team members based on criteria provided by management 
    • Coordinate required activities across IT teams and business areas 
  • Serves as a teacher and mentor for other associates  
    • Helps drive the quality of work within functional area 
    • Provides direction to team members as assigned by management 
    • Delegates tasks and involved in setting priorities as assigned by management 
    • Performs code reviews 
    • Reviews technical documentation produced by internal and external team members 
  • Develops/designs integrated solutions within a broad technical context  
    • Influences and is engaged in tactical and strategic direction of functional area 
    • Unit tests code and reviews test results to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications 
    • Troubleshoots code to find causes of errors and revises programs 
    • Consults with senior members of the team, Project Manager, Business Analysts and/or key users to prototype, refine, test and debug programs to meet needs 
    • Monitors performance of programs 
  • Provides production support as required  
    • Flexible in schedule to cover 24X7 rotating operational support
    • Analyzes service desk support tickets 
    • Recognizes and escalates risk and issues

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • At least 2 years of team leadership and mentoring experience required 
  • 7+ years of related programming or development experience required 
  • Experience in Retail Planning Systems is highly preferred
  • Experience with third party software installation and on-going maintenance is highly preferred
  • Proficiency with Oracle and PL/SQL programming
  • Experience in Web Development; IIS, ASP, ASP.NET, (VB.NET and C#), Active Directory, Message Queuing, Node
  • Experience with an enterprise job scheduling tool and a ticket management tool is desired 
  • Experience with MS Office, Visio, MS Project or similar tool is highly desired 
  • Consistently demonstrates strong communication, collaboration, facilitation and organizational skills 
  • Successful delivery of complex projects, enhancements and production support fixes 
  • Proven proficiency in multi-tasking and leadership skills 
  • Effective time management skills to meet deadlines 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Be self-motivated and enjoy learning 
  • B.S. Computer Science or related discipline preferred
