General Summary
|
The HR Generalist will support the Distribution Center in all HR initiatives, serving as a trusted point of contact for 200 non-exempt employees as well as the exempt leadership team. This role is multifaceted, encompassing complex employee relations, HR policy development, talent planning and development, safety compliance, and leadership support. This role will actively contribute to fostering an environment that attracts, develops, retains, and engages talent, aligning with business objectives. This role collaborates with various stakeholders, including talent acquisition, compensation, payroll, benefits, and learning and development, to enhance and create a best-in-class overall employee experience. This role does require to be in the Columbus Distribution Center 4 days a work week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
|
- Serve as point of contact for non-exempt and exempt employees, answering questions and providing guidance on various HR policies, programs, and procedures.
- Conduct orientation and support the team as employees assimilate, ensuring a positive new hire experience.
- Manage complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations, consulting with legal counsel when necessary.
- Manage the performance management process including attendance, performance, work behavior, and other areas of the performance corrective process.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, programs, and procedures.
- Participate in developing department goals and objectives, making recommendations on HR strategy with focus on continuous improvement.
- Help create an environment to attract, develop, retain, and engage talent throughout the site to deliver on business objectives.
- Support hiring managers and Talent Acquisition team to support recruitment efforts and staffing plans.
- Support management with engagement survey and help to create recommendations and action items that will produce impactful change to improve morale and overall employee satisfaction.
- Assist with performance management process, ensuring timely completion of reviews and evaluating feedback provided to employees for alignment with business objectives and values.
- Collaborate with safety committee to enhance and implement safety programs and policies, ensuring the well-being of our employees and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Engage in DE&I efforts by participating in the Diversity Council, to integrate programs and activities in that focus on promoting a culture of awareness, education, and equal opportunity.
- Review monthly turnover and partner with management on improvement recommendations and impactful enhancements to current practice.
- Partner with leadership to assess talent at all levels, focusing on future planning, opportunities for training, and development programs for associates concentrated on growth opportunities. Partner with learning and development team on training needs.

- Coordinate and communicates business needs to HR partners in specialty areas (i.e. compensation, benefits, recruiting, training & development).
|
- May conduct local surveys and/or focus groups regarding HR practices and policies. Provides results and may make recommendations.
|
- Represent client groups in broad HR initiatives.
|
- Conduct exit interviews, hiring interviews, stay interviews.
|
- AD hoc project management.
- Other duties as assigned.

|
Required Skills:
|
- HR generalist experience working with multi-unit customers, including distribution center experience.
|
- Demonstrated business acumen.
|
- Experience handling complicated Associate relations issues.
|
- Knowledge of state labor laws and labor codes.
|
- High energy level, comfortable in performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with normal activities.
|
- Ability to identify, analyze, develop solutions and make decisions on complex or unique issues.
|
- Effective communications skills—ability to present persuasively.
|
- Demonstrated PC-based software using Microsoft™ Office suite.
|
- Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills to all Associates including management.
|
