Financial Analyst – Accounting Operations

 

The Financial Analyst – Accounting Operations is primarily responsible for performing accounting analysis as well as monthly close and reporting as it pertains to Designer Brands Inc Sales and associated allowances.  The analyst is also responsible for maintaining and managing Inc level Sales and Comp base reporting as well as budgets, projections and ad hoc analysis.  In addition, the analyst will play a key role in developing processes and capabilities within new business units to ensure accurate sales and comps reporting and compliance with SOX.  Reports to the Manager, Sales Audit and does not have any direct reports. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

                                                           

  • Designer Brands Inc. Sales and Comps
    • Maintain and periodically produce Inc. level daily sales reporting consolidating results for all Designer Brands Inc. business units
    • Manage Inc level comp bases and computations for all business units
    • Develop processes to ensure accurate sales and sales comp reporting for newly acquired business units
  • Manage Budgets and Projections – manage models and conduct new analyses as appropriate to manage projections for various areas associated with sales allowances and credit related expenses
  • Complete monthly trend reports and analysis including fluctuation analysis for various monthly financial review meetings
  • Perform month-end accounting close entries and account reconciliations
    • Areas of responsibility focused on Sales related allowances and accruals for various Designer Brands business units
    • Work with new business units to ensure proper allowances are being recorded
    • Ensure reserve processes are compliant with SOX
  • Responsible for quarterly external reporting sales related disclosures
  • Special projects and analysis as necessary

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • 2-3+ years of experience in accounting is preferred
  • Strong accounting knowledge
  • Advanced analytical skills – ability to work with large data sets and summarize for management reporting and analysis
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of Hyperion reporting a plus
  • Possesses strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting is preferred
