The Financial Analyst, Testing & Innovation position is critical for the operational success of the DSW Segment (stores & eCommerce) and will serve as a strategic Finance partner to the Innovation team at DSW. This person will help develop and provide financial guidance surrounding new initiatives in-store and provide Pro Forma/Long Range Plan generation, weekly sales reporting and analysis, and monthly P&L/accountability review for all new store initiatives. This position will ensure consistent assumptions, clear communication and timely delivery of a cohesive, thorough, timely product. This role will have great exposure to Company leadership – strong business acumen, attentiveness to detail and collaboration are the keys to success. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Strategic Testing & Analytics and has no direct reports.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform financial assessment of new Company initiatives, providing recommendations to leadership on how to proceed – P&L generation/sensitivity analysis, Cash Flow/NPV/ROI analysis, risk assessment and creating success criteria/KPI’s
  • Report and analyze weekly results of store initiatives, providing reasoning behind underperforming initiatives and recommendations to improve performance
  • Perform detailed monthly reporting surrounding P&L/Financial performance (sales thru operating income) while providing recommendations on how to improve profitability
  • Develop a Long-Range Plan for each initiative, while understanding and communicating how current performance/trends should impact its long-term expectations
  • Collaborate with partners to develop new ideas that support key business initiatives
  • Other various ad-hoc analytical projects to support the business and Company strategy

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

 

  • Experience in accounting or finance, or another analytical role, preferred
  • Experience in sales forecasting and analytics
  • Financial modeling skills are preferred
  • Ability to work with little direction (“work in the gray”)
  • Strong collaboration skills to build solid, trusted relationships with analytics teams and business leaderships
  • Comfortable in team-oriented environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, including presentation development and delivery
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and capabilities
  • High initiative and self-direction
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to multi-task throughout the day

 

 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate majors preferred: Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, Business
  • Experience in retail a plus
