General Summary:

•    Lead Central Planning, POM, and Vendor Margin work to effectively support and communicate inventory strategies to the business

•    Collaborate with finance and marketing on budgeting and financial projections

•    Supervise Merchandise Analyst(s), Merchandise Operations, and Merchandise Solutions/Process

Sales/Merchandise Volume Responsibility: ~$3B Annual Sales

Reports to: SVP, MP&A


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Lead and manage the Merchandise Analysis team in the pre-season target setting, analysis and summary of sales, inventory, markdowns and profit
  • Maintain effective and collaborative relationship with buying team to ensure merchandise plans accurately reflect merchandise strategies and deliver financial objectives
  • Support margin expansion work with Vendor Tier planning and tracking in partnership with merchants
  • Ensure that the financial strategy pursued is consistent with the budget and profit parameters
  • Maintain risk assessment models that are used to determine buy levels and maintain profitability to budgets
  • Hire, coach and develop a quality team including succession planning and regular performance reviews to address personal growth and development needed to foster a productive, focused team
  • Provide the leadership and the necessary formal and informal training, including one-on-one development, needed to produce a team that contributes consistent financial growth to the business
  • Develop and present information to executive teams
  • Lead monthly internal MPR financial meeting, including performance updates to key growth objectives
  • Support Executive MPR and relevant business meetings to ensure alignment in brand financial strategies
  • Collaborate with finance on annual budgeting process and revisions to financial forecast
  • Coordinate with  marketing on promotional activity- promotions, GWP’s and Warehouses vs Digital split to ensure merchandise plans have appropriate MD forecast, and support OI growth

Required Skills and Competencies:


  • Advanced statistical and analytical skills- including data retrieval, organization, presentation, and summary
  • Excellent communication skills- written and verbal with emphasis on delivery of financial concepts
  • Ability to recruit, train, and develop both individual contributors and leaders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Business Objects/Data Warehouse, Arthur Planning and JDA Allocation


Minimum Qualifications


  • 8-10 years experience in Merchandising Planning, management experience preferred


  • B.S. degree in Business, or equivalent work experience
