General Summary: The Digital Product Owner will develop and execute the digital strategy for Designer Brands across customer (internal & external) digital touchpoints.  They possess a combination of business and technical skills that will be utilized to drive Designer Brands eCommerce business.  They will work closely with the Ecommerce, Store Operations, Marketing, IT and Analytics teams to drive the program, focused on flawless execution and business requirements, for initiatives that will improve the customer experience as well as profitability for the business.  The Digital Product Owner must be extremely data-driven, detail-oriented and able to adapt to the dynamic changes in digital.  Also, must have excellent project management and time management skills, an aptitude for learning, a passion for digital experiences, and strong communication skills. There are two open Digital Product Owner positions, one that focuses on browse and personalization experiences and one that focuses on checkout and fulfilment experiences.


Reports to: Manager, Digital Products


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Create a world-class customer digital experience for Designer Brands through various initiatives that are critical to business growth
    • Plan and manage eCommerce features supporting key digital growth initiatives from concept through execution to meet/exceed the business cases
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT partners to drive experience and strategy across the digital experience
  • Create and adjust strategic direction for the digital customer experience (external & internal customers), ensuring strategic direction of digital touchpoints tie to the overall digital strategy for the business
    • Identify problems, create solutions, and develop business cases to understand ROI features/investments
    • Prioritize initiatives based on strategy alignment, ROI and team capacity to improve the customer experience and profitability of DSW
      • Manage backlog of ideas/solutions
    • Support POV by market data and personal experience by researching and staying informed of new and innovative best practices on digital channels that maximize business and the customer experience on our mobile applications
  • Partner with UX, BA’s, Development Team and Business partners, as appropriate, to create business requirements, user flows and use cases
    • Collaborate with DSW cross-functional partners to ensure timelines and requirements are met
    • Improve processes to increase throughput of agile team
    • Partner with Product Analysts to test, confirm and optimize new features in production environment
    • Partner with Site analytics team to make data-driven decisions
    • Partner with UX partners to build world-class digital experiences & conduct on-going customer research to indentify opportunities and inform future enhanancements
  • Partner closely with other Product Managers on the team to ensure a seamless experience across channels
  • Communicate priorities and experience changes to impacted business users


Required Skills and Competencies:


  • Strong organizational, project management and analytical skills
  • A proven aptitude for problem solving with the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership for end-to-end product lifecycle
  • Extreme attention-to-detail and ability to manage multiple projects & tasks simultaneously
  • Energetic and customer-centric; Ability to prioritize and focus while effectively managing multiple and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong metrics orientation; ability to perform analyses on Adobe analytics data to support hypotheses
  • Flexible and positive attitude; proven experience partnering with technical and design teams, clearly articulating business priorities and managing  through conflict
  • Abilty to cooperate in a team environment and build relationships
  • Perform work with moderate supervision and under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Work with UX partners to deliver world-class experiences & conduct user interviews & usability testing for site



  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, communication, IT or related field 




  • 2+ years in Product Owner role
  • 5+ years experience in eCommerce
  • Retail experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with ATG or comparable web platform
  • Experience working within Agile Methodology
