We are looking for a technologically talented individual to help DSW evolve its computing landscapes, enabling our business to realize the full advantage of retail opportunities as they arise.  This position requires a mix of hands-on technical development work, conceptual design, and leadership through influence.  Based on a cloud-first approach, you will be responsible for strategic technology enablement, designing and supporting right-time solutions in collaboration with various technology teams at DSW.  You have a broad range of experience with technologies across the various layers of the application technology stack.  Working with other engineers, architects, and Business Analysts throughout the SDLC, you will contribute to a team that has been tasked to be agents of change at DSW, driving the next evolution of IT for our business and our customers.

Reports to Director of Data Integration.



  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to design and implement solutions to support DSW’s vision and strategy
  • Collaborate with internal and external technical resources through the completion of and contribution to application designs to ensure alignment with DSW’s architecture vision and strategies
  • Research and develop designs to help meet our technology and automation goals
  • Build, scale, and maintain Cloud Solutions internally and supporting other solution centers as needed
  • Use various development languages to develop tools, scripts, and frameworks that drive efficiency in automation, monitoring, and management of our environments
  • Utilize instrumentation, metrics, and applications to automate and improve operational processes and availability, scaling, and security of the production and development environments
  • Build, enhance, and maintain development, management and monitoring systems
  • Deploy and maintain product releases and customer configurations
  • Engage with industry and vendor partners to drive our requirements and product needs


    Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in information technology, 2 years of practical experience with cloud systems and services preferred
  • Successful candidates will have a broad technical background, ability to develop scripts and tools, excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and a strong commitment to delivering quality solutions
  • Previous experience developing, implementing, and operating highly available environments through a public cloud provider, Google Cloud Platform services and technologies preferred
  • Knowledge and practical experience with SDLC and DevOps processes
  • Experience performing similar role during prior positions as the primary focus
  • Operational experience managing critical tools and infrastructure with a strong focus on providing cloud-based services and technology
  • Proficiency in various development languages and frameworks such as Java, Javascript, Python, and other scripting languages (BASH, Perl, etc.)
  • Experience with Cloud Technologies and Architecture, Cloud Orchestration/Automation Tools (Terraform, Salt, etc.) and virtualization/container technologies (KVM, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
  • Experience with tools for system, process, and environment monitoring, logging analysis (Logstash, Splunk, Elastic Search), and configuration management (e.g. Terraform, Salt, Ansible, Puppet)
  • Understanding of source code control systems; experience with Subversion (SVN) and Git a plus
  • Experience with relational and non-relational database technologies (best practices, replication, grants, operational procedures)
  • Familiarity with Java/JVM performance tuning
  • Understanding of security fundamentals including Identity and Access Management, encryption, OpenSSL, SSL Certificates, system hardening, etc.
  • Knowledge of large-scale, clustered, and distributed storage and filesystems
  • Knowledge of network layer devices and functionality (e.g. Switching, Routing, Load Balancing, Proxying, NAT)
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate across teams and skill levels
  • Experience developing, tracking and leveraging performance metrics for continual improvement
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills
  • Experience in Retail preferred
