Job title: Associate Cloud Applications Engineer

General Summary: The Associate Cloud Applications Engineer is responsible for the design, build and/or support of cloud-based marketing applications and data.  The position will work alongside the other DSW IT teams to help ensure the marketing solutions being proposed not only meet the business partner’s needs but align to the principles of DSW IT organization allowing us to continue moving forward.  The Cloud Applications Engineer should be forward thinking and be one who can lead and deliver innovative solutions to keep the Marketing IT team aligned to the ever-changing Marketing business needs. 

Reports to: Manager, Marketing Applications

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop interactive cloud-based web applications on Google's Cloud Platform
  • Quickly understand requirements and be able to assist with designing architect and building robust applications
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves functional/technical issues
  • Collaborate with other technical resources and business users to understand business requirements for projects and operations, and makes cogent recommendations
  • Provides regular status updates and communications to the platform team and management
  • Develops and maintains documentation related to installations, configurations, technical solutions and procedures relevant to the administration and maintenance of services
  • Develops new functionality within the platform based on business requirements
  • Performs unit testing and assists with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on new products and developments, as required

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Full stack developer with experience in JavaScript and Spring Boot at a minimum
  • Background/exposure with developing and maintaining RESTful APIs
  • Background/exposure to Jenkins or like solutions
  • Highly motivated with ability to thrive in a fluid and demanding environment
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills: verbal, written and interpersonal
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong project management and inter-departmental coordination skills
  • Exposure to Continuous Integrations/Continuous Delivery methodology
  • Capable of identifying emerging platform issues and to critically evaluate solutions in order to successfully apply them to resolving platform issues
  • Ability to work on multiple projects within the constraints of deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to identify sub-optimal business processes and use process simplification methods and/or technology to improve them

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of applicable experience in application administration, testing, implementation and documentation required
  • 1-3 years of experience JavaScript and Spring Boot required
  • Basic knowledge of RESTful API preferred
  • Basic knowledge of AngularNow preferred

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or similar area required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud application development and support
  • Experience with Continuous Integrations/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) methodology
  • Building and maintaining microservices within cloud environment
