Job title: Accountant, Inventory Control

General Summary: The Inventory Control Accountant is the primary inventory control contact for 500+ DSW store locations, ensuring that each store’s inventory is stated correctly.  Additionally, this position assists with general inventory control responsibilities in all business units including:  helping reconcile physical inventory for DSW stores and the Affiliated Business Group, and working with cross-functional partners on business initiatives including inventory accuracy across all channels.  This position serves as an analytical resource for the Store Ops, DSW.com, and Asset Protection teams.

Reports to: Manager, Inventory Control

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the Retail Stock Ledger reflects the most current and accurate inventory position of the company.  This includes oversight over:  Store Inventory Control mailbox, Empty Box Log (EBL) reporting, store to store inventory transfers recaps, utilize Retail Stock Ledger to research inventory adjustments in the stores, distribution center, and fulfillment center
  • Provide analytical support to Asset Protection partners to highlight areas of risk/ opportunity in shrink in stores and with third party distributors
  • Provide analytical support and develop reporting for the Merchant team regarding key inventory metrics to highlight areas of opportunity or risk
  • Other ad hoc financial & accounting analysis
  • Complete account reconciliations on total inventory
     
     

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • High degree of Accounting and Financial Analysis skills
  • Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, & Access
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience in accounting is preferred
     

Education:

  • Knowledge of Jesta, Business Objects/Microstrategy, Lawson, SQL Developer & Hyperion is a plus
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance; MBA and/or CPA or background in public accounting is plus
