General Summary

A DC Power Equipment Operator is responsible for the efficient transportation, delivery, and retrieval of merchandise to various locations throughout the distribution center. Duties performed by the DC Power Equipment Operator are done so with the assistance of technology through HighJump, the NJDC warehouse management system (WMS), to ensure inventory accuracy.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Loads and unloads merchandise to and from trailers and departments insuring proper carton count.

• Shuttles, retrieves, and delivers pallets to designated areas as directed by HighJump (WMS)

• Transport empty pallets to designated areas

• Scans and moves merchandise into and out of floor and rack locations via the truck-mount or RF Scanner

• Reports occurrences of merchandise/pallet overhang or damaged product to the appropriate DC associate

• Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including using shrink wrap or strapping tape to secure product

• Communicates problems/concerns to the appropriate DC Lead, Supervisor, and/or Area Manager.

• Performs an accurate pre-trip equipment inspection through InfoLink

• Responsible for the proper handling and safe use of all Company owned property, tools, and equipment, including PPE, power equipment, voice equipment, etc.

• Conducts duties in compliance with OSHA safety standards, MSDS, Camuto Group Motorized Equipment Policy, and location specific policies, paying special attention to pedestrian/equipment traffic.

• Cross-train to perform one or more functions within multiple departments to assist within other areas based on the needs of the department, facility, and Company

• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to support workload requirements

• Other duties as instructed by leadership, including various duties performed within DC Material Handler, DC Processor, and/or DC Power Equipment Operator roles, which the associate is trained and skilled to perform

 

 

Required Skills:

• Complete up to (8) hours of supervised training on power equipment.

• Must successfully pass written and hands-on driving tests to obtain in-house power equipment certification with a certified trainer.

• Excellent hand and eye coordination skills.

• Must be capable of operating steering, hand, and foot controls simultaneously.

• Ability to successfully perform established physical and systemic processes for moving product within the facility

• Ability to read and recognize applicable numbers and directives, including safety rules, operating instructions, racking locations, and procedural documents

• Ability to perform duties independently, and as part of a team, with minimal supervision or guidance

 

 

Experience:

• (2) or more years of warehouse, distribution, logistics, or fulfillment experience strongly preferred

• Prior experience working within an automated conveyor-based operation strongly preferred

• Previous operation of a Crown stock picker, electric pallet jack, and/or turret truck strongly preferred

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge and skilled with using a RF scanner

• Prior knowledge of warehouse management system (WMS) functions
