General Summary:

Reporting to the Lead DC Maintenance Technician and Facilities Manager, the DC Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for responding and resolving to service calls, providing mechanical and technical support, and troubleshooting automated material handling system components within a 700,000 sq. ft. distribution center. The Maintenance Technician should be able to successfully perform on-site installation, servicing, and repair processes of complex equipment and systems without direct supervision, by following detailed work instructions and reporting any outdated or incorrect repair measures. All duties are to be performed in accordance with proper safe work practices. Additional responsibilities are related to the technical delivery of small service jobs, time and work material, and preventive maintenance.

 

Reports to: Facilities Manager
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Utilize various tools and instruments to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on conveying systems according to established standards.
  • Perform preventive/predictive maintenance and repairs on equipment
  • Assist in formulating preventative maintenance standards/work procedures while performing those duties and provide work order feedback on discrepancies noted in service delivery.
  • Utilize working knowledge and experience to troubleshoot and repair material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, automated conveyor systems
  • Participate in cleaning the conveyor systems and maintenance area as appropriate.
  • Provide daily support to the operations, especially by performing daily inspections as required by site guidelines.
  • Perform general facility maintenance such as light bulb replacement, office furniture relocation, light plumbing, light electrical repairs, etc.
  • Other duties as instructed by leadership which the associate is trained and skilled to perform

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Must have a good working knowledge to include, but not limited to, the troubleshooting and repair of material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, maintaining automated conveyor systems, motors, lubrication, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Understanding of CMMS systems for work order and inspection completion and documentation Ability to read, recognize, write, and follow applicable numbers and directives (verbal and written) in English
  • Command of basic math skills to ensure inventory is accurate
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends as required
    Frequent bending, lifting, walking, pushing/pulling, crawling, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and standing for long periods of time and sometimes working in extreme temperatures
  • Move objects using proper lifting and operating procedures
  • Ability to perform duties independently, and as part of a team, with minimal supervision or guidance
  • Willingness to learn and be mentored, accept constructive coaching/feedback

 

Qualifications:

 

Experience:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    Command of safety procedures (including lock-out/tag-out)
    Demonstrated commitment to quality
  • Previous operation of powered equipment, specifically Crown MHE, strongly preferred
  • Prior experience and/or working knowledge of: Conveyor and/or sortation
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting Solid electrical troubleshooting Solid controls troubleshooting
  • Preventative/predictive maintenance Modification and upgrade support Installation

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous industry-based experience
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, detail, follow-up, and interpersonal skills

 

Education:

  • High school degree, or an approved GED, required.
