Summer 2019 Exclusive Brands Internship


Our Exclusive Brands team is responsible for developing an exclusive product assortment at DSW - in other words, brands you can't get anywhere else!  The Exclusive Brands team creates and leads the merchandise strategy to create a family of exclusive brands that offer differentiated product at a compelling value.  The Exclusive Brands Intern will assist the Exclusive Brands team and buying teams with the full life-cycle of development and order processing.  This intern will perform the administrative and operational functions and be required to develop a complete understanding of all merchant teams, paperwork, sample flow, and appropriate approvals. 


Potential Responsibilities:

  • Share & process line sheets (vendor, style, color, price, FOB etc.)
  • Manage requests for ship changes from vendor - conferencing with buyer
  • Document all changes/cancellations by buyers and vendors
  • Check PO balances on Friday and partners with buying teams
  • Establish and maintain photo library on the pdrive - determine how pictures are classified
  • Download pictures from Kickoff and Handover meetings and shopping trips
  • Cross check for styles that are missed against purchase orders
  • Delete pictures that are no longer needed
  • Manage all samples
  • Partner with POM to track status if orders
  • Resolve DC issues
  • Investigate partial shipments
  • Fix ASN failures
  • Generate vendor set up forms
  • Generate Business Object reporting as directed by Brand Managers
  • Print/distribute reports on Mondays
  • Manage artwork communication with third party vendor and accessories
  • Schedule and organize all product development meetings by booking vendor rooms and time on buyers calendars
  • Attend all product development meetings and take detailed notes to help with follow up


Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Retail Industry
  • Knowledge of shoe attributes – varies by department
  • Exposure to buying process
  • Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Retail math skills


  • Internships will begin summer 2019 (mid-to-late May) and last for 12 weeks
  • All interns are full-time, paid positions
  • All interns must be able to pay for their own housing and transportation while in Columbus
  • Only the candidates who meet the internship requirements will be contacted for interviews
  • All interns will be required to complete a project at the end of the internship program
  • Relocation expenses (if applicable) will not be covered by DSW
