Sr. Financial Analyst, Stores Segment Sales & Margin

The Sr. Financial Analyst, Stores Segment Sales & Margin supports the DSW Segment and collaborates with partners throughout the business to enhance projections, support strategic initiatives and improve overall financial performance of the business.  This individual is responsible for the Net Sales forecasts for both Stores & eCommerce, the DSW Warehouse Margin projections including Selling IMU forecasting, Markdowns by Type and Other Margin expense related forecasts and shipping expense projections.   In addition, this role supports other responsibilities assigned as needed for DSW Segment.


Reports To:  Manager, Store Segment FP&A


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Stores Segment FP&A
    • Warehouse Sales Forecasts – Daily/Monthly/Seasonal projections based on demand drivers (Marketing, Merchandising, etc.)
    • Monthly Selling IMU projections – Analyze category plans to develop Finance point of view on go forward IMU risk or opportunity vs. the Finance forecast
    • Markdown projections and insights – Daily/Monthly/Seasonal projections based on markdown drivers (Clearance and Marketing markdowns)
  • Demand to Net Sales Model & Alignment for Stores & eCommerce – Daily/Monthly/Seasonal projections by channel based on order routing logic for each demand channel
    • Monthly Shipping expense projections and insights – Analyze shipping cost implications and future risk/opportunity of cross channel fulfillment
  • Ongoing Business Insights – Provide daily/weekly sales and margin reporting and weekly business recap reporting to summarize and analyze business results
  • Provide accurate and timely analysis and actional insights to DSW leadership and cross functional partners
  • Partnerships – Develop effective and collaborative relationships with functional business partners, identifying key opportunities, as well as communicating and influencing actionable analysis
  • Ad hoc analysis

  • 3+ years of related experience in a fast-paced environment (retail experience required)
  • Knowledge of finance/GL packages; Lawson, Hyperion or similar is valued but not required
  • Knowledge of business intelligence tools, MSI, is valued but not required


Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA is valued but not required



  • Undergraduate majors preferred: Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics
