General Summary:

The Senior Manager, Brand Media is responsible for leading DSW strategic media efforts in upper funnel / brand media channels & Co-Op/Brand Partnership media campaigns, that ladder back to DSW business goals and objectives. This position will support primarily the following channels (but not limited to): paid social (Meta, Pinterest, TikTok, Snapchat, etc.), digital video (YouTube), digital audio, CTV/OTT, programmatic & display, and media partnerships.

 

This role will support both always on media initiatives / channels, as well as seasonal tentpole / ad hoc business/marketing campaigns. In addition to strategic planning & execution, this role will be required to produce deep analysis of campaign performance/opportunities and translate findings into insights that inform strategic points of view. This position leads a team that supports overall execution of brand media initiatives, plus works cross functionally with external media agencies & internal strategy, brand & product marketing & expanded media team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Strategy / Planning / Execution:

  • Identifies strategic priorities for channels, or a given season, by collaborating with strategy, internal brand/product marketing teams and/or external agencies.
  • Translates business strategies into customer-centric integrated media plans, campaigns, and experiences that fuel brand awareness, customer engagement, and drives traffic & customer acquisition
  • Leads media strategies that have a customer-centric approach to targeting, and include key inputs that tie together brand, product, and media channel strategies with best in class, platform native creative.
  • Responsible for development of new, unique, innovative, and ownable media ideas & experiences that differentiate the DSW brand and drive traffic/sales/engagement, collaborating with agency & external partners as needed
  • Leads strategy and execution related to always on media channels (i.e., digital video, paid social), including planning, test & learn roadmaps, optimizations, reporting/analysis & go forward recommendations
  • Leads media seasonal tentpole planning to support key seasonal business objectives, outlines media plan, optimizations, and reporting/analysis
  • Drives incremental sales and market share by aligning seasonal marketing campaigns and brand strategies to market opportunities
  • Leads strategy, seasonal/annual plans & recommendations and executional management of Co-Op/Brand Partnership campaigns, aligning to individual brands goals/objectives to develop channel plans, targeting, and reporting on key KPIs
  • Lead pitching/ideation and communication with brand partners around media plans
  • Integrates Co-Op/Brand Partnership plans with National media efforts
  • Collaborates with internal creative team on creative strategy to ensure messages and production are meeting channel best practices, are platform native, and follow DSW strategy/objectives
  • Stays up to date on industry trends, technology advancements, new channel opportunities, leads patterning & best practices, and provides recommendations for application into DSW programs
  • Leads team responsible for executing media plans flawlessly, and manages outside agency partners to ensure strong execution & planning support  
  • Collaborates with external agency partners and internal DSW teams across strategy, PR, organic social, performance media, CRM, and/or creative.

 

Performance / Reporting / Insights:

  • Accountable for media performance across all brand building channels & Co-Op/Partnership campaigns
  • Manages weekly / monthly / quarterly or ad hoc reporting across channels to report with succinct insights with recommendations for optimizations
  • Utilizes data and insights from campaign performance, plus consumers and competitors, and partners cross-functionally, when applicable, to influence future strategy, direction, and creative content.

 

Required Skills: 

  • Expert in the digital media space with prior management experience of related brand media channels
    • Strategic mindset with the ability to develop successful media campaigns/plans that ladder up to business objectives, with ability to see plan through to execution and completion.
    • Highly analytical & data driven – can translate complex data into succinct findings/insights; can present data in a meaningful way to leadership and others outside of the media industry
    • Manages for results with ability to set goals/KPIs & holds teams accountable
    • Highly organized and detail oriented; ability to manage multiple competing priorities
    • High level of critical thinking ability and curiosity
    • Ability & prior experience managing a direct team and external agency partners
    • Strong collaboration & communication skills as this role works with many cross-functional partners; must have the ability to build and cultivate relationships across all levels of the organization
    • Strong oral, written, and visual communication skills with expertise in presentation development; ability to influence partners & story tell  
    • Innovative – ability to challenge, bring new ideas, be solution oriented
    • Highly flexible: Thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; Demonstrated ability to excel in a collaborative environment to develop measurement frameworks and execute against media plan goal
    • Strong familiarity developing test plans, outlining success metrics, media analytics tools & processes, & advanced skills in Microsoft applications particularly Excel & Powerpoint

 

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience working in a Marketing function with a focus on digital media
  • 4+ years of experience Managing a team in a fast-paced retail environment

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 
  • Prior experience managing co-op / brand partnership campaigns
  • Retail experience preferred

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or advertising related field
