Job title: Regional Human Resources Manager

General Summary: The Regional Human Resources Manager is responsible for implementing and coordinating established HR policies and practices throughout the DSW Stores Organization.  Manages and coordinates HR activities in compliance with company philosophy, objectives and legal requirements.  Recommends, develops, and implements programs, policies, procedures, and events that create or reinforce a positive associate relations atmosphere. 

Sales/Merchandise Volume Responsibility  Approximately 100 stores,  approximately $500 Million in volume

Reports to  Director of Human Resources

***This role is preferrably based in the Northeast Region of the United States.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Support  Regional Director, District Managers, Store Managers with the handling of associate relations issues
  • Direct the interpretation and application of established HR policies and procedures
  • Independently investigate, recommend, and resolve associate relations issues up to termination.  Consult with outside counsel when necessary
  • Creates a culture of engagement by modeling and holding other accountable to Company values
  • Mediate disputes and assist in conflict resolution and provide coaching to associates regarding difficult situations
  • Act as a consultant on corrective action process
  • Travel throughout the Region and conduct store visits to provide on-site guidance and partnership to Regional Director, District Manager, Store Manager and store associates
  • Act as the liaison that coordinates and communicate business needs to HR partners in specialty areas (i.e. compensation, benefits, recruiting, training & development)
  • Supports the Region with ADA accommodations process
  • Manage projects directly related to company’s Mission, Vison & Strategy
  • Periodically delivers HR training
  • Educate field business partners of current HR legislation and practice
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with business partners



Required Skills and Competencies:


  • HR generalist experience working with multi-unit and remote customers
  • Demonstrated business and retail acumen
  • Experience handling complicated associate relations issues
  • Knowledge of state labor laws and labor codes


Minimum Qualifications


  • 7-10 year’s experience as a HR Generalist/Manager with emphasis in the retail industry


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in HR including PHR/SPHR, and/or SHRM-CP/SCP preferred



  • B.S. Degree in Human Resources or Business or equivalent strongly preferred
