General Summary

The Director of Global Trade Compliance will provide leadership and execution of DBI’s Global Trade Compliance strategy, driving and enabling trade compliance excellence across the organization.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead DBI’s duty savings initiatives, including free trade agreements (FTAs), first sale and other duty mitigation programs and develop leadership level reporting capabilities to capture our progress in expanding our duty savings initiatives.
  • Lead the FTA factory compliance relationships, including training, execution, KPIs and Metrics
  • Drive the development and implementation of global trade and Customs self-assessments, gap identification and corrective action
  • Lead DBI’s Global Trade by growing and improving our compliance across all divisions, including Strategy, Policy, Process and Assessments. Facilitate directional alignment across all brands and sourcing territories
  • Use DBI’s end-to-end Product, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance processes to optimize compliance efficiency and cost
  • Drive global standardization of DBI’s trade processes and standard operating procedures. Support our brands/divisions in developing efficient, effective and appropriate work procedures to support compliance with applicable import and export regulations
  • Act as subject matter expert in large cross-functional initiatives where Trade is impacted
  • Ability to evaluate ambiguous situations such as new regulations that overlap with other areas of the business (supply chain tracing, corporate social responsibility, etc) that will be enforced by or involve customs agencies to contribute to DBI’s strategy around such risks
  • Creatively and compliantly integrate different processes and data capabilities to deliver one cohesive team with enterprise-wide consistency and reporting
  • Smoothly integrate any future acquisitions into DBI’s enterprise-wide trade functionality without bias over which processes are the proper ones to carry forward
  • Able to manage conflicting deadlines and still achieve best in class results
  • Own the relationship with and selection of DBI’s Customs Brokers

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade or related area.
  • LCB preferred
  • 8+ years experience in management/leadership role
  • Extensive experience in Global Trade Compliance management, including direct experience with developing and implementing and comprehensive end-to-end trade compliance framework
  • Experience with related-party transfer pricing and strong familiarity with differing approaches to related-party sales
  • Proven ability to work cross functionally, cross culturally, with virtual teams to build strong relationships
  • Track record of building new ways of thinking, developing and implementing processes, process improvement, and leading change
  • Extensive industry connections with excellent working relationships and professional respect
  • Proven success in hiring and developing a team of diverse individuals
