Position:          Cloud Applications Engineer

Level:               Mid-level

Location:         Open to remote location working on EST workday

Reports To:     Manager, Digital Cloud App Dev

The Designer Brands IT team is a fast-paced team that thrives on challenges where we put the customer first and build solutions to support that sentiment.  We’re looking for the best talent to help us evolve our platform.

 

As a Cloud Applications Engineer, you will design and build our next-generation Digital eCommerce platform. This team is at the center of DBI’s E-Commerce growth, building a cloud- based modular services architecture based on cloud-native tools.

 

The team includes a mix of full-stack developers, all committed to delivering new functionality and replacing legacy systems. As a member of an open-minded and future-oriented team, you are encouraged to be curious, collaborate, and turn ideas into solutions that will transform our customer experience.

 

Responsibilities include building Node.ts services using a domain-driven architecture and following RESTful API best practices. This position requires a mix of hands-on technical development work and conceptual design. Working with other engineers, architects, and business analysts throughout the systems development lifecycle, the Cloud Applications Engineer will drive a team tasked to be agents of change.

 

Skills:

  • Ability to develop applications, scripts, tools, and a commitment to delivering quality solutions
  • Experience with cloud technologies and architecture, relational and non-relational database technologies, and cloud-native tools
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with focus on consistency and nuance in architecture
  • Curious mindset with desire to learn, including previous experience adapting to new technologies
  • Self-motivated
  • Skilled in technical writing, including systems documentation
  • Efficient at troubleshooting & problem solving
  • Team player, strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of source control management systems

 

Tools:

  • Node.ts (Typescript)
  • Cloud-native technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, NATS)
  • Familiarity with Google and/or Azure Cloud Platforms
  • Databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis, Firestore, MySQL)
  • Git & CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps)

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in information technology
  • 1 years of practical experience with cloud systems and services.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in Retail preferred.
