DSW seeks a super-creative, highly motivated Art Director to develop and lead the creative vision of the brand. The candidate should be a wealth of ideas and possess the skill set to connect business needs, strategy, and merchandise initiatives into impactful creative brand campaigns. This Art Direcor role will be a CENTRAL creative force behind the branded experience. The candidate will join a team of Art Directors, Designers, Content strategists and Copywriters. Candidate should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of taking projects from creative concept to final delivery. A team player is a must as well as a natural affinity for the values of the DSW company.

 

What we are looking for

• Creative visual skill set able to translate complex technical and business concepts into easy-to-understand branded and seasonal campaigns

• Ability to concept and art direct photo shoots at a high level • A clear design voice and an unbending creative rigor

• Ability to socialize and present creative work to cross-functional partners and senior leadership teams

• Ability to design at a highly conceptual level with strong ties to business strategy

 

Roles And Responsibilities

• In collaboration with Creative Director, develops and drives innovative creative concepts for seasonal campaign and large branded initiatives

• Works closely with Strategy and Consumer Marketing team to concept and execute seasonal marketing campaigns

• Utilizes exceptional design skills and demonstrates innovation in creating original designs

• Communicates and presents design concepts; creates presentation materials that effectively communicate design concepts

• Helps lead team brainstorm efforts pertaining to seasonal or program concepting

• Be able to brief and collaborate with outside partners to execute campaigns and deliver campaign assets

• Demonstrates expert-level knowledge of current trends, color, technology and other design influencers

• Shares knowledge, experience and skill with other design staff; works with design counterparts to ensure continuity across category lines/areas of focus

• May lead projects, establish direction and manage designers on a per project basis

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or design-related equivalent

• 8+ years’ experience in design for large retail organization - specific to the footwear/apparel industry

• Strong InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop skills (MAC platform)

• Proven depth of experience in design represented by a portfolio of work

 

Additional Proficiencies

• Knowledge of photo processes and production – from studio to location, lifestyle to product

• Deep connection to fashion culture and trend

• Experience in branding for projects both large and small

• Ability to work “in the grey”, sometimes with small details of information

• Solution oriented

• Excellent writing and communications skills, deadline driven

• Strong team and influencing skills
