As an Application Architect - Store Technology at DSW, you will be constantly presented with new challenges of sizable scope and variety. This position reports to Manager of Store Systems and has no direct reports.



  • Define and evolve store technology strategies and roadmaps supporting applications, services and end user functionality
    • Research and present new technology trends, influencing peers and leadership toward adoption, driving accountability of the achievement of roadmap milestones
    • Responsible for capturing innovation ideas, consistently advancing the conceptual architecture, prototyping, and adoption process
    • Collaborate with Store Operation leadership on future strategies and adoption
  • Lead and contribute to cross-functional architecture and engineering design sessions to create highly scalable solutions delivering business value
    • Define and maintain logical and technical views of Architecture
    • Define reusable components, frameworks, common schemas, standards, and tools, influencing their usage across development teams
  • Mentor and guide internal and external technical resources
    • Review application designs to ensure alignment with the Architecture and strategy
  • Identifies and communicates impacts to the architecture roadmap based on industry changes and technology innovation
    • Participation in industry groups to gain visibility to trends and influence future direction


Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in retail information technology with a heavy bias towards store technology (associate and customer facing)
  • Focused experience developing, implementing, and operating large-scale point of sale systems, message queuing functionality, mobility and payment offerings.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with SDLC and DevOps processes
  • Understanding of store system management processes, configuration management, tax and promotions is beneficial
  • Experience performing similar role during prior positions as the primary focus
  • Experience in Retail highly preferred
